Gionee Elife S5.1

Gionee Elife S5.1

The Gionee Elife S5.5 comes with a stylish design and a mid-range price tag aimed to go one step ahead of its plastic counterparts. Gionee also went ahead boldly claiming that the S5.1 was ‘more than just a pretty phone’.Priced at Rs.18000. “Worlds sexiest smartphone” isnt a bad one.In March 2014, the 5.5mm thin Gionee Elife S5.5 held the crown for being the slimmest smartphone in India. It is surprising how things change so quickly. The Chinese company has already announced its next model, the Gionee Elife S5.1, which is a 0.4mm slimmer. It features glass body and metallic frame, giving the phone a truly amazing look. This phone features latest android operating system gives unmatched performance.Getting towards our review.

Our Review

The Gionee Elife S5.1 shows off an amazing 4.8-inch AMOLED multi-touch display which poses brilliance with an HD resolution of 720 x 1,280 pixels and a stunning pixel density of 306 ppi. The figure 5.1 in the name refers to the incredibly slim outfits thickness in millimeters. It is undoubtedly the chief selling point of this device. It runs on Android v4.3 Jelly Bean OS.The phone feels delicate at 97g and in our time with it we had to handle it with the utmost care. The front and the rear of the phone are reinforced with Corning Gorilla Glass 3, which is a relief. However, when coupled with the metal edges, gripping the phone is a problem. The S5.1 is a stylish phone, but it is not a premium phone when it comes to specs. If you are one of those who want to unleash the power of Android then this is not the phone for you. You just need to look at the 1GB RAM to make that call. But that does not mean this phone lacks when it comes to performance. An average users will have no problems using this phone for multi-tasking and all other heavy duty stuff like gaming and multi-tab browsing.Gionees new Elife S5.1 comes with an 8-megapixel auto-focus rear camera with LED flash. Also, theres the front camera that can shoot at 5-megapixel resolution. And it has to be mentioned that the company has bundled a CharmCam app for the handset apart from the proprietary camera app.The 5-megapixel front snapper, however, does a good job of taking selfies. It is powered by a 2,100mAh Li-Po battery.ts evident that Gionee put all its attention into the design of this smartphone. While the company came up with a very good looking and well built device, it compromises on performance, and only has one way to attract the consumers attention. The looks arent enough to make this phone worth the price and youre finally left with a device that is overpriced and not worth recommending.
