Google Play Edition Galaxy S4 receives Lollipop update – Nutech

The Lollipop update for Google Play edition of the Galaxy S4 is rolled out.

This was reported by Android Police . The update is the Android firmware updated from Android 4.4 to Android 5.0 Kitkat Lollipop, which include bringing a new design.

However, the update does not apply to normal Galaxy S4 with Samsung’s Android skin. Google Play Edition is a special version of the Galaxy S4 which runs on a bare version of Android. This firmware is also installed on Nexus devices

LG G3 Lollipop update could land this month

An LG G3 Lollipop update is on the way, and now the Korean manufacturer has suggested its flagship phone could be bumped to Android 5.0 as early as this month.

With LG having previously promised an LG G3 Lollipop update before the year’s end, the company has now hinted the software patch could be rolled out within a matter of weeks.

Although failing to offer a precise launch date for the LG G3 Lollipop update, the company has narrowed down its previously broad ‘Q4’ timeframe.

“The G3 will be going to Android Lollipop,” Shaun Musgrave, LG’s Product Marketing Manager said this morning.

“This should be happening between the end of this month the beginning of December.”

With Android 5.0 Lollipop having been formally announced alongside the Nexus 6 and Nexus 9 devices last month, Google’s latest OS is expected to hit a flurry of flagship phone in the coming months.

If LG can get Android 5.0 Lollipop on the G3 this month, however, it will become one of the first devices to offer the upgrade - something not lost on the LG G Watch maker.

“That is one of the quickest updates for a top tier device,” Musgrave said of the planned patch release.

He added: “We will definitely be one of the first vendors to introduce Lollipop to our flagship device.

“Because we have a good relationship with Google – and bearing in mind we have two previous devices with them – naturally we would get the ASOP a little earlier than most.

“That’s one of the reasons [we’re able to get the update out so quickly].”

Android 5.0 Lollipop brings a number of new features to Google powered smartphones and tablets. From the new Material design to improved Gmail and notification options, the patch also adds battery life boons and 64-bit CPU support.

‘Asphalt Overdrive’ for iOS Android and Windows Phone review

The Asphalt series of games has been around since pretty much smartphones themselves. I still remember playing the excellent Asphalt: Urban GT and its sequel, Urban GT 2 on the N-Gage. In portrait mode, no less, cause that’s how the screen on those phones were.

Since then the series has gone through a lot of changes and as with most Gameloft games are now some of the most visually impressive games available on the mobile platform. But before we head from last year’s Asphalt 8: Airborne to Asphalt 9: Whatever, Gameloft has a little spin-off called Asphalt Overdrive to keep us busy. Let’s take a look.

Gameplay

Asphalt Overdrive is a departure from traditional Asphalt games, in which you don’t race against other drivers on a circuit. This is more long the lines of runner games, where the car drives itself and you just have to slide left or right and jump to perform stunts.

Every race begins with cops chasing you. There is a button on screen that you have to press at just the right moment, which gives you a temporary boost of speed. If you miss that you have cops snapping at your heels from the beginning.

Once you do that, you basically have to swipe left or right to avoid cars in your lanes or any other obstructions. You can ram into cars from the side, which gives you points. There are also ramps on the street that you can jump from and perform stunts in air. These are fairly simple, and can be executed by swiping up or sideways when you are about to jump. Actually, you kinda have to do that, because if you don’t, you lose some speed and the cops are right back on your tail again.

Pulling all these stunts gets you some nitro boost that you can use to evade the cops. You can also collect the nitro while driving. It’s important to save the nitro for later because in later levels the cops just seem to come out from nowhere near the end and unless you can nitro your way out you are bound to get busted.

Despite being a fairly simple game, there are a lot of excellent licensed cars to unlock and play. You can also spend in-game currency to customize and upgrade the cars, which become sort of necessary for later levels. Overdrive has several ‘turfs’ for different ‘villains’, where there are a handful of race categories, such as simply escaping the cops, or performing stunts, or causing mayhem, etc.

Annoyingly, you get a limited set of points you can use to play the game. Every race you start uses one point and even if you restart a race you use another point. There are very few of these and if you run out, you have to wait some time before the points get refilled or pay real money to continue.

As you’d expect, there is a lot of IAP in the game, since this is a free-to-play title. You can spend money to get in-game cash or gold, which can be used to buy more cars, upgrades, or unlock levels. The game is still playable without paying a single dime but you won’t go too far without hitting the paywall, and then your only options are to either wait and come back later or pay upfront.

Oh, and Asphalt Overdrive doesn’t work offline.

Graphics & Sound

Gameloft decided on a retro theme for Asphalt Overdrive, with an 80′s California setting, retro supercars instead of the modern ones, and a cheesy menu design that is reminiscent of GTA: Vice City. While I appreciate the setting and the retro cars, the pink menus really are ugly.

The graphics don’t seem particularly great in this version, so it’s not just the gameplay where Overdrive departs from the main Asphalt series. The game looks positively blurry on the iPad’s Retina display, as if it’s running at a lower resolution. Even on Android devices, it doesn’t look that great. The 3D models for the cars are good, though.

The sound is just about okay. The music is decent and reminds me of older Asphalt games but the shouty voice clips with the tacky lines of the co-passenger or whoever, who cheers every time you pull off a stunt or asks you to go faster, are absolutely annoying. Even weirder is the game actually speaking the function of every button you press. So as you’re in the menu pressing ‘Upgrades’, ‘Customize’, ‘Next’, etc, the game is going “Upgrades, “Customize”, “Next” in an auto-tuned voice, that just sounds silly.

Verdict

As a spin-off title, Asphalt Overdrive isn’t really asking itself to be taken too seriously as the other games in the series, which themselves are arcadey mobile games. The gameplay is temporarily interesting but gets boring quickly. Even if you try to play it for a while, the game will stop you and ask you to come back later when you run out of points, unless you choose to pay, of course. The visuals aren’t great and the sound is annoying at times. There is not much to like here but it’s a free game so install it, play it for a few minutes, and when you run out of points, uninstall it like I did.

The neat design with the usually rich color options has always been part of the deal in the Lumia range. Its a budget WP smartphone were talking about with a big screen and a high-res front camera. Not bad in terms of selling points considering the price is more than acceptable.

The screen isnt ridiculously pixel-rich but the extra size has its advantages in navigation, web browsing and office tasks.

The biggest turn-off is video recording - although the phone doesnt pretend to be anything special, 480p video isnt doing it a favor. Maybe it made sense to Microsoft to do proper 480p rather than poor 720p (Lumia 520), but were merely guessing here. Its not the Snapdragon 200 to blame, its not the single gig of RAM either. 480p video doesnt quite make sense on a device with higher than WVGA screen resolution.

To make up for it, the Lumia 535 is the second Lumia phone to offer a wide-angle 5MP front camera. Its entirely up to you how thats a benefit - selfies or Skype video calls.

Mac Mini may be getting refreshed soon

The Mac mini hasn’t received any hardware update love for some time.

But that might change soon though, as rumor has it that Apple is planning on refreshing its little computer-that-could.

So what gave the alleged upgrade away? Well, a screen shot of the Boot Camp support page showed support for the “Mac Mini 2014″, that is, until it was updated and removed.

Could it be a regular error? Probably not, considering that the Mac Mini hasn’t received an update since 2012. Also, since Apple has bequeathed its Macbook pro line of laptops with brand, spanking new Intel chips, an update to the Mac Mini line with top-of-the-line, core i7 Haswell processors doesn’t seem that out of the question.

If the update doesn’t turn out to be true, then it could very well be that Apple doesn’t plan on keeping the Mac Mini around much longer. Without a proper refresh since 2012, the Cupertino-based tech giant may just consider phasing out the little computing box completely.

How To Install AppSync for iOS 7

One of the very immediate reason to jailbreak an Apple device is to install apps for testing purposes before finally deciding on purchase it if it meets your taste and standard. You dont wanna spend that hard currency on a shitty app. In other words, cracked apps are installed to serve as demos in a situation where demo for a particular app isnt available.

To be able to install cracked apps, the iDevice needs to be jailbroken and AppSync for iOS needs to be installed. To get AppSync installed on your iOS 7 iDevice, follow to steps below.

Requirements

1. Jailbroken Apple iOS 7 device

2. Internet Connection on your device

Procedures

1. Click on the Cydia icon on your home screen to reveal the Cydia interface.

2. Click on Manage at the bottom of the page to reveal the menus it contains. Now click on Sources.

3. Click on Edit at the top-right corner of the screen and the click on Add at the top-left corner of the page.

4. Add the repo http://repo.hackyouriphone.org and click on Add Source as shown in the image above.

5. When Warned by Cydia, select Add Anyway. At this point the repo would be added and you respring your device.

6. Now click on Search and type AppSync for iOS 7.0+ and then select it.

7. Install the package and you are good to go. No need to reboot.

8. At the end of the process, you should be able to install cracked apps for testing purposes.

Windows Phone is easy to use and do not have to waste too many obstacles for novice smartphone users. Its quite fun and makes a refreshing change from the interface.

Lumia 535 powered by a 1.2GHz quad-core processor with 1GB of RAM. It is sufficient to carry out the tasks of everyday life, including streaming movies on Netflix, but for the game can not be handled properly. Quite navigating around the interface can be a bit sluggish too. We see some stuttering while browsing the live tiles and some Presses screen does not register properly. 1,905mAh battery strength. It is not too large, but with low-power processors and low resolution screens do not require a lot of juice, the battery should not be too heavily taxed. Indeed, Microsofts assume you can get up to 13 hours of talk time over 3G, which is not too bad.

In our own testing, we found the battery has dropped to 77 percent after a full rest after one hour of video streaming, which is on the low side of average. This is a test that is quite demanding, so if youre careful, you should not find it too difficult to get one day of use out of it. Avoid demanding tasks such as video streaming and gaming, keep the screen brightness down and turn off Wi-Fi and GPS when not in use to save power.

BlackBerry New BBM Will Increase File Transfer Limit Above 6mb

I love using BBM for chatting, its very good but when it comes to sending files, i abhor BBM. One of the issues I have with it is that it has a size limit of 6mb before you can transfer file. That means, if you want to transfer a high res image of 6.5mb, you wont be able to use BBM for such transfer to your contact.

Well, it looks like BlackBerry have seen the light, heard the thoughts of her users and have decided to release a new BlackBerry messenger that would increase the 6mb transfer limit as seen in the tweet below.

Currently, Whatsapp, have a transfer limit of 12mb which we even think its small. Therefore, we expect that BlackBerry will beat the Whatsapp transfer limit and make BBM limit somewhere around 15-20mb.

The announcement which came from Jeff Gadway is highly welcomed and we are looking forward to the next BBM update that will see the transfer size limit increased.
